Virginia Slims got it right "You've Come a Long Way, Baby".

I didn't find this quite as funny as it was made out to be, but there were moments I chuckled out loud. However, it was very informative, well researched, and very, very interesting. I won't go in to details, mainly because most of them are too gross for this forum, but it's amazing how women were treated, thought of, and expected to behave back then; not to mention the general uncleanliness that was the norm of that day. I am beyond thankful for our foremothers that had the strength to fight for improving the lot of all women. I am also exceedingly thankful for hypo-allergenic makeup, the ladies' aisle in the grocery store, showers, indoor plumbing that flushes, toilet paper, the ability to wear pants, and not to have to wear crotchless underwear under my skirts to so I can use a chamber pot with fewer issues.

... bits of information on what Victorian life was really like for women

Well-researched and full of nifty little bits of information on what Victorian life was really like for women. The author takes us back to mid-century 1800s and switches between US and England telling us what our life as a wealthy woman would be like going into detail about the naughty bits, the toilette, the marriage bed, disease, etc. She also takes us downstairs as we learn to deal with servants, housekeeping and cooking. The book is easy-breezy to read and the author takes a laissez-faire attitude pushing jokes and puns throughout. As a voracious reader of Victoriana mostly interested in the downstairs and back alleys, I didn't find much I didn't already know but it was fun having a book devoted to the topics. The only thing that annoyed me was the author's poking fun at everything. It started off cute but just got more and more irratating as the book went on, until I got to a point where I just wished she'd stop. It would have been wiser, and easier on the reader, if she had opened each chapter with the teasing and sarcasm and then got down to the business at hand of imparting her knowledge.

Digital book of poor quality and writing style takes away from interesting look at Victorian Era

I didn't like the way it was written as if the writer was talking directly to me as if I was transported back in time. If she called me Cherie, darling or other cutsie names one more time, I would have hit her over the head, if I could have.
I liked the content but it was so heavily buried by the tone and opinion of the writer that it really grew tiresome. Just give me the facts, right? Not in this book.
For the price, I would have thought they could have done a better job with the digital format. Every picture had a caption that was not with the picture but instead on the next page. Some of the captions weren't even readable. For 18.00 I expect way better formatting!!!
I have read better books on this time period and I had high expectations for this book but I am embarrassed to even share that I paid for it. It's just so over the top cheesy. And it would be half the length if it wasn't inundated with nonsense.

A Super Review of the Roaring Twenties !

A beautiful 192 page volume covering all aspects of the roaring twenties. Major topics range from The Quest for Normalcy, Flight, and Sports Stars, to Birth of the Tabloids, Gallery of Greats, and Crazes That Captured The Nation. Loaded will large sharp photos on every page. It's mostly a picture book, but there is sufficient text to provide an insight as to what really went on during that interesting period in U.S. history and culture. You'll enjoy the trip.

Great overview of the 20s

This book has great pictures and info on the 1920s. It's fun just to page through it, and I use it when I teach about it in class. Some things are skimmed over, of course, but when you're trying to cover a decade in 1 book, that's to be expected.

Picture book regarding the JAZZ AGE

This is basically a coffee table book about the JAZZ AGE. The B&W photos are very large, since the book itself is large in size. I do wish the author had expanded on each chapter, because I feel the author missed a few special Jazz Age experiences, here and there.

Though the book is large in size, it is NOT thick in size---thus, there are not as many photos as a reader might expect.

The only marketing book I’ve read twice before finishing once… HIGHLY recommended for copywriters, advertisers, marketers, consultants, and anyone in the golf business.

… it’s worth mentioning that 90% of the content I read in this book has never been in the hundreds of other marketing/advertising books I’ve read.

Only one person, Michael Masterson, a student of Eugene Schwartz, touches on levels of prospect sophistication and how to approach (and create new) markets based on the prospect’s level of desire awareness.

Read it twice... and it's worth every penny... I hesitated for a moment, but very happy I dropped the $140 after reading it!!

Advanced concepts of the psychology of marketing

Whether you value this book or not depends on your current knowledge, writing experience and level of desire to become really good.

This in not a book for beginners learning the fundamentals of advertising as the title alone could lead one to believe.

This book is for the advanced student and creator of copywriting for direct response campaigns. If you are not familiar with "direct response," you are not ready for this book.

If you have a thorough understanding of the basics, and you done your share of testing, then you will be ready for this book. It is and advanced study of the science of copywriting and advertising campaigns. This is for someone who has already had some wins under their belt and is now ready to take their skills to the next level.

The downside is that this book is not easy to read. It is dry and boring. Expect it to take you a long time to get through and to really grasp it, you should study this like a text book--highlighter in hand and multiple passes at it.

If you lack 1st-hand knowledge this book will go over your head

I put off writing about this book until I had read it
several times. I put off buying it for awhile because
it's so overpriced.

This shouldn't be the first copywriting book you read.
I would say you should be thoroughly in the mix as a
marketer and hiring copywriters or doing it yourself
to even comprehend this book.

It's position a golden key to advertising mastery is
probably deserved. There are insights here which are
profound in their implications.

Invaluable resource for serious marketers and copywriters.

Not a good investment if you are just starting out. Read
all the copywriting classics first... and more than once.
Then write a lot of copy. Then get this book and you'll
have a point of reference to understand how the information
here can make you better.

I'm not telling you much about what is in the book. Other
reviewers who are stronger writers than I have already
told you what is in it. I'll just say you need a certain
level of maturity in the way you think and do marketing to
grasp the lessons in this book.

An excellent introduction to the care of guinea pigs!

I bought this book for my daughter just before we got her first pets, two guinea pigs! The pictures are lovely and the book covers guinea pig likes and dislikes, as well as their basic needs from vitamin c to clean water. The best part though is the author's continued assertation that guinea pigs love to be cuddled!

The most wonderful book on Guinea Pigs I've ever encountered

I do research on every animal I own and this was one of the most informative books I have ever found. The animation is extrordinary and it has made my daughter aware that books can help us all in raising our animals properly. I don't know how many times we have referred to it for one question or another about our guinea pigs. We also love to just go back and look at the pictures because they make us smile. A wonderful childrens book, and if I do say so myself, it is great for adults too. I am so very glad we found this book and bought it. I would highly recommend it to anyone getting or already having a guinea pig. Jackie and Kathy Fisher
