Great study guide. Highly recommend! I just passed my CLEP on American History 2 (1865 - present). I studied Newman's "United States History" and after I was finished I went over review questions in this Study Guide. It really focuses attention to the events and situations CLEP requires you to know for this exam.

I wish they sold this individually (thus cheaper) instead of a guide for all 33 exams. I only needed the one for American Government. Under than my little whine, this guide is good. It is important to note that this is just a guide. There's really nothing on this book except a breakdown of the exams and about 90 sample questions for each exams. You would need to buy other actual study materials.

The sample questions are worth their weigh in gold though. I took it right before actually studying for the exam and it is helping me figure out what is important and what is not while I am reading/studying the actual study material.

About the Author
Verna Cook Salomonsky (1890–1978) was one of the first prominent women architects in the United States. She studied at Columbia University's School of Architecture and at the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris. In the 1920s and '30s she designed hundreds of houses in the suburbs of New York City and elsewhere.

The combination of photos, measured drawings, and brief commentary makes this a great resource for designers and craftspeople. On the down side, the drawings are at weird scales (like 0'-1 3/8" = 1'-0"), so if you want to draft from them, you'll have to get crazy with the photocopier or scanner. The organization could be a little tighter-- there's a stool in the table section--, and the pieces aren't quite in chronological order. Still, the details are clear, and the catalog is fairly good. One hundred and two photos! Over 500 drawings! (I think this includes each view/detail.)
It's a Dover book! You're not going to find this information for less.

Very good reference

This book had information on more pieces than I expected. The styles vary from high-style European pieces to some country American pieces. I'd look at some of the other excellent reviews posted here for additional information on the book.

I see that the cover art has changed. I can't tell for certain, but it may mean that they've released another printing. While the binding of my very old copy is still in great shape. It's good to know that there may be brand new copies available.

Perfect for creating your own copies of the originals

This book is referenced regularly by others, and I could see why easily when I received my copy. The B&W photos provide enough detail that you can scale proportions when necessary and deduce construction techniques that were used. The scaled sections and plan views of the pieces provide the overall dimensions and critical dimensions that you need to get the feeling of the piece correct. I'm building an oxbow chest from it in a college class, and engaged in an argument with my instructor re dimensions of the bracket feet required which weren't fully dimensioned. I did turn out to be correct too, thanks to the quality of the information in this book that was provided - I correctly deduced the missing data. I'm looking forward to building more of the pieces. These books are old, and the binding on my copy was dried and cracked so all of the pages are loose now, take it easy with your copy. The printing itself is in perfect condition.

My kids love it!

I use this book in my child therapy practice, and my kids love this particular book the best! Since the book is a song that you can sing, and has great illustrations to go with it, kids bob along, want to learn the song, love to figure out the pictures, and without knowing it practice the cool-down tools the book teaches. I've used the book for a wide-range of kids, about ages 4-8ish, who have quick tempers and poor insight into other people's actions. Kids learn how to walk away, stomp their feet, bang a drum, take deep breaths, and tell a friend when they are angry. I've also used the book to help kids who have difficulty recognizing that most of the time, others are not trying to make them mad, and that sometimes we make ourselves mad.

I highly recommend this book for parents, teachers, school counselors, and child therapists. If you want to get your kids loving to learn anger-management skills, this is such a great book to start with!

I feel like there are very few books that talk with kids about anger and this one is great. Gives kids all kinds of ideas for what they can do when they're angry. I'm bummed they're no longer produced. I don't mind buying used though, the book was in fine condition.

Just days after the attack on the Federation Capitol and the death of thousands of senators, Tibby accepts the biggest challenge of his life by becoming a Fleet Admiral for Federation. Tibby is still at the capitol when he contacts his space yacht, the NEW ORLEANS, which is just finishing up repairs at Nibaria and asks them to fly ahead to Plosaxen and use its Reverse magnetic Force Field shields to deflect shots by the HAPRIN directed at the planet. Meanwhile, Tibby is officially commissioned into the Federation Space Force as a Fleet Admiral by the Senate. He and Kalana use Tibby’s Mirage Fighter, the ALI to join up with the NEW ORLEANS at Plosaxen. Before they arrive, the Brotherhood, on the HAPRIN, is joined by their ally a Tottalax warship. When Tibby and Kalana arrive, the cloaked NEW ORLEANS is taking heavy fire acting as an invisible shield. Tibby and Kalana are forced to remain cloaked themselves while they wait for the battle to wane so they can board the NEW ORLEANS, however, before they can do so the Tottalax unleashes their sleep weapon in an attempt to disable the NEW ORLEANS crew. Tibby and Kalana are rendered unconscious aboard the ALI as ship continues on its flight path after colliding with the Tottalax. Tibby awakens to alarms going off and the ALI is about to crash into a planet. He discovers his ship has apparently been damaged by an impact with the HAPRIN after he and Kalana lost consciousness. Tibby is barely able to make an emergency landing on the remote desert planet aptly named Desolation when Kalana awakens and announces she is going into labor. Tibby must help Kalana deliver the twins; the ALI is unable to take off or fly again, and nearest help is two light-years away Tibby activates an emergency signal for assistance and rescue, knowing it may be years, if ever, that it will be detected and help arrives.
Tibby has no way of knowing what is happening with the war against the Brotherhood. He knows he needs to get back and take command of the 1st fleet but for now he must focus on caring for Kalana and the twins in a hostile environment, with strange nocturnal creatures on a planet that seems dead by day but comes to life after the sun sets. As time progresses, Tibby must deal with the nagging thought of who will hear his emergency message and arrive first, his friends to rescue him, or the Brotherhood that seeks to kill him.

I have been an avid reader of science fiction for over 50 years and in all that time, I have only seen a hand full of science fiction books that incorporate families in the story. In the Solbidyum Wars Saga, starting with book 5, I try a new approach by bringing children into the saga as Tibby and Kalana have twins.  Throughout this book and the rest of the saga, you will get to read about these children growing as seen through the eyes of their father.  Like most fathers, especially those in the military, getting to spend time with one's children is never often enough, but yet bonds are developed, and interactions take place.  I am hoping that by bringing these children into the story it will add an element that will make the stories more realistic, even though they are fiction. I am hoping you will find this addition to the stories interesting and fun, and for those readers who are parents, I hope you can find elements that you can relate to with your own memories of raising your children.  For the rest of you, be assured there still will be plenty of action and intrigue as the war continues to grow, and Tibby leads the battle against the evil Brotherhood.

About the Author
Dale Musser was born in 1944 in a small rural community of Pennsylvania.  From 1967 until 2012 he was employed as a structural and piping designer in the industries of marine and offshore resources, cogeneration power and hard rock mining.  His work at three shipyards and assignments with several engineering and naval architectural firms during his careers in Virginia, Texas, and Maine, took him to such places as London, U.K., Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., Scotland and Mexico.  During this time, he was responsible for the design of reactor compartments for nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines for the U.S. Navy and the structural designs of numerous offshore semi-submersible oil rigs, tanker ships, supply boats, and other vessels and equipment used in the offshore industry.  After the death of his wife in 1999, Mr. Musser changed careers and went to work in Arizona and Utah in the hard rock mining industry.  He retired in the Fall of 2012 and currently resides in Mesa, Arizona.
Dale enjoys rock hunting and lapidary work, gourmet cooking, writing, poetry, art, music, religions and philosophy in small doses, astronomy and the sciences in general, hiking, camping, the outdoors and the gifts that nature provides.  Mr. Musser is a member of Mensa and remains an avid reader, having lost count of all the books he has read after 3,000.
The greatest joy in his life is his daughter, Heather.  Affectionately they call each other "BUBBY."

buckle up and enjoy the ride

Dale-Dale-Dale - brilliantly written, technically-dramatically-comically - I am upset though, as I couldn't put the book down and now have to wait for book 6. All the while, hoping there will be 60 books - the story line you've created is one like I've never experienced before. the depth of characters is phenomenal and your insight to their technology blows me away, this progression seems believable and real. It's also easy to connect with every character, their personalities and emotions bring your books to life. now, I must tell you, I've changed my mind. I've hoped since book one, that your vision makes it to the big screen... A two hour movie, even with sequels will do your books no justice. I'm hoping that one day, everyone will enjoy your stories on the sci-fi channel in a weekly series, that would last several seasons. I eagerly await book 6. Again, great job and thank you for taking my mind on a trip through the Galaxy and beyond.
